work

This is where I work. I work as a CT (cat scan) tech at a hospital. The way I look at it is that I get to take pictures of people all day. Not a bad gig. But at times it can be sad and disturbing when I see just how terribly ill people can be.

Last year, I think that I spent too much of my free time doing this project. Though I love photography, I do have other hobbies that I've totally put on the back burner. For my 365 project this year, I am going to just focus on a skill a month and not post every day, just post when I have the inclination and the time. I do want to improve my photography skills, and I am just going to concentrate on one technique per month. That means that I will not be on this site every day and will scale back on commenting, etc. This site is fabulous, but it can be exhausting. I love that this community is flexible and accepting of everyone's contributions be it a few days a week or of all the time.

My main focus this year will be the NTMC project, and that's about all I want to care about as far as photography goes this year. It may happen that I'll just comment on those pics, so if you notice a tailing off from me, that's probably the reason why.

Here's to a wonderful 2015. Happy picture taking!
Oh Krista this actually gave me the chills.A photo that makes you feel is good!As a cancer survivor I have been in this room one too many times.Thank you for doing what you do!I am sure you are as caring as all the techs I have ever had have been.

the tones portray the severity - the light gives us all hope - emotive image

Very clinical shot, tricky lighting you dealt with well. Enjoy the change.

Superb shot and processing

Great shot. I'm kind of in the same boat wth the second year thing and have seen the NTMC thread it's a great idea.

Wise words. This project, tho fun and rewarding, can be crippling at times.
Great shot here. Loving the crisp black and white :)

Great photo :)

Super lighting although I look at this with mixed emotions having spent time inside one a few too many times in 2015
Good luck with your new challenges for 2015

@mzzhope it had the same effect on me Hope!!! I hadn't read your comment before I wrote mine, no surprise that it had the same effect

Superb shot! Good luck with your technique challenge. I hope to join in at some point. I know what you mean about the project being exhausting.

The b&w processing gives this an ominous feel - but that might just be my memories/experience of scanners. Very powerful photo.

Similar reaction to this image, seems many of us have similar experiences with scanners. Here's to a healthy 2015!

The b&w and the lighting, wow!

This piece is attention-grabbing for sure. At first glance, I thought you were being clever by trying to create a little "dark comedy." That is, I thought it was a huge dryer in which somebody was about to be body-dumped! Of course, I read it and realized differently. Fascinating work you do. And I totally get it about this project being exhausting. NTMC? Not sure what that stands for. Now am curious to look into it and to decide how involved I want to be with the project this year.

The b+w white gives it a very creepy feel, great shot

@annied what a great comment, Annie. Absolutely. I am just using my new iPhone 6 this month, and I now have 2 days to catch up on, which is not bad for me, as I seem to have fallen off the wagon a bit!

That is a cool shot. 'Brain' likes it! Happy new year.

Great light and composition. Hope your technique challenge goes well.

What interesting job you have! And yes one does understand how time consuming this site is, I have cut a lot of my participation here too and not post everyday. All the best for you for this new year and for this new challenge

Clinical, suits the environment. Must be though at this to do this job.

And same here, step back, focus on skills.

Looks good in B&W

Totally get where you're coming from - it took losing internet for over a week in my first year to make me see how time consuming this project can be - I didn't post or comment much last year so I'm hoping this year I'll find a good balance between the two. Fantastic photo too - interesting job

Like the light in this. I do get the need to find some balance, this site is fab but it eats time

I find this shot both frightening and reassuring. Hope you have a great year doing what you want to, and I look forward to seeing your pictures occasionally.

Great shot Krista !! You are wise in your decision, go for it !! I'm probably going to do the same some day, cause it is time consuming although i really love this community.

Very cool shot, you have an important job.
I completely agree with your comment about spending too much time here last year. I'm going to post only when I have the inclination and time (and a decent shot) this year too.

Great photo, has that surreal feeling that I just experienced. Love the b & w treatment and contrast.
January 4th, 2015
