Ok, first let me clarify these are NOT birds at my backyard feeding station! I was on my way home from dropping my grandson off at school this morning and as I was just about to turn the corner off the highway I noticed a curious sight. Probably a dozen turkeys walking single file along the shoulder of the road headed straight for the highway. I quick pulled over to the side of the road, rolled down the window, grabbed my camera and started snapping away while strongly urging them to turn around. They kept heading for the highway so I finally ended up opening the door and getting out to shoosh them back the other way. That's all it took and they started gobbling and freaking out like chickens with their heads cut off as they scrambled into the ditch. Why couldn't these guys have showed up for my Thanksgiving picture!! :)
Turkeys make such wonderful subjects for a fun shot, don't they? This is a great collage with a real sense of the movement and the scramble. What a great find!
@jjsooner They needed all the help they could get...they were definitely not the sharpest tools in the shed if you know what I mean. Really dumb birds but I do think they're kinda cute in a homely kinda way!! :)
@girlie Thank you Robin, I almost didn't bother taking my camera this morning because I was already rushed but I grabbed it any way and glad I did. They were quite comical to watch.
Hi Paula,
I love the way you got them to crane their necks and peer at you sideways. I have taken many bad turkey shots. What lens did you use? These are nice and clear and colorful. I think they made a great collage.
how totally cool is that? great collage. we have them around our parts too, and i'm always amazed how pretty their feathers are....in sharp contrast to their, uh, not so pretty faces!
Great collage and a fun story.
