Felt too raw to take any shots on Thursday. A colleague died very suddenly last Friday and all the teams who knew and worked with her are still coming to terms with this sad news. Left me slightly exhausted mentally and emotionally. We said our goodbyes on Thursday - the little church was packed with colleagues filling three quarters of the space. Rainbow colours, the moon and the stars seemed rather fitting for the occasion.
(You may need to enlarge to see part of Orion constellation.)
Will catch up with all your wonderful shots very soon, my brain cells are slowly recovering! Thank you all for your kind comments on my last few shots! Sorry for being very flaky with postings and commenting at the moment.
this is a lovely photo and very symbolic, the colours of life and the vast hereafter. I have also experienced the sudden death of a friend and I found there were so many different elements of grief it is hard to come to terms with it. Sorry to hear this.
@lauralatham Thanks so much Laura! Sorry to hear about your friend. I think you are right. It just catches you unawares sometimes and will be an ongoing process.
Super shot.
I am so sorry to hear your awful news - shock is another hard emotion to cope with on top of grief, no wonder you've been shaken up. Take it easy and rest up, everything will catch up in good time. x
How joyful for your colleague to now be Home! When I look at this messed up planet, I can't wait for my own journey home! Western society is one of the odd ones that sees death as the end, a sad thing. Other cultures celebrate it as the joyful new beginning that it is! :-)
LOVE this pic, and man, that Orion guy gets around, doesn't he? ;-)
So sad to hear your news! Shock and grief take a lot of getting over, take your time and look after yourself. My thoughts are with you.
Your photo is a lovely way to commemorate your friend.
sorry to hear your news! This happened to me last summer - its a terrible shock when someone goes suddenly & completely unexpectedly, be gentle with yourself.
lovely colours and sky - and so sorry you've been dealing with such an emotional time - take all the time you need to wind down and recover - it's going to take much longer than you expect
Nicely captured, with the other stellar features. I thought it a great sight and can't get my head around how the lights appear to diverge no matter which end they were seen from.
So sorry to hear that :( Very lovely shot, there is something symbolic with eternity, deep blue sky with stars and the bright "life lines". Take your time, we will be here :)
I am so very sorry to learn of the death of your colleague. It is tough, I know only too well. It seems trite to comment on your shot, but I will. The whole series of these that you have taken are spectacular.
Sorry to hear the sad news. Read about the rainbow on the Beeb's website and immediately thought ... 'I bet Barbara gets some good shots of that' ... and you did not disappoint.
