Erlangia in Winter by bmnorthernlight

Erlangia in Winter

The market square was very quiet on a Monday with only a couple of regular stalls and a few people braving a crispy -4 degrees in their lunch hour.

It wasn't too cold to buy some olives:

It was, however, quickly too cold for my camera battery, so only a couple of shots.

Erlangia is one of the figures either side of the fountain, holding the shield of the city Erlangen. Behind her the Stutterheim'sche Palais, built 1728, the town hall for a century and a half until 1971, and now housing the city library.

My library card was in heavy use throughout my childhood, trying to feed my constant reading habit. It's always lovely to see the old building looking beautiful again after a restoration a few years ago.
