Which is it? An uncharacteristic visit to the launderette while we wait for our new washing machine to arrive (tomorrow). Last time I went was 7 years ago when we had bed bugs.
Lots of admin done this morning before going to the launderette - renewing house insurance, phoning the travel insurance people to check cover, phoning hotels to check things like parking and more.
Pissed down properly mid-afternoon as I played music and I waited for it to calm down before heading out to King's Cross as I wanted to look at the FatFace sale. Nothing interesting there but I walked up the Caledonian Road in search of Palava where they sell quirky colourful dresses in all sizes.
Tried quite a few on and a lot didn't suit or just weren't quite right but eventually settled on a blue and white dress with a print reminiscent of Matisse.
At home, we'd just finished eating and were watching The Change when someone tapped at the front door. It was S from next door come to collect her parcel. She seemed distracted so I asked her if she was okay and unfortunately she wasn't - her and her husband are not in a great place at the moment. I invited her in to drink wine and do some unburdening - hoping they'll get it sorted.
3 good things
1. Very helpful people in the launderette as I looked suitably bewildered.
2. Very nice and patient people in Palava - as I dithered over which dress.
3. Pasta with onions and courgettes from our veg box glut - with added sardines.
@agnesvanderlindeicloudcom well I'm surprised also, you'd think everyone would have a washing machine these days, but in our area there are a lot of flats in multiple occupation (lots of people sharing) so I guess the facilities might vary.
