Pretty pewter tankard at the English Country Music Weekend evening session.
Took a half day’s leave today and after a bit of shopping around Regent St, headed up to Enfield to meet Dave so that we could drive to Brightlingsea in north Essex for the English Country Music Weekend. Arrived in fairly good time for a Friday evening and checked into the B&B, then headed up to basecamp for a very satisfying hotpot thing with veggie meatballs followed by apple pie. Then a session led by fab new outfit, the English String Band – massed fiddle wall of sound – a bit like an English JPP said Dave – not far wrong. These ECMW sessions do tend to go on quite late and I lasted till after 1am, with Dave dozing in the corner, before we walked the 10 mins back to the B&B through the absolutely silent dark streets of Brightlingsea. We had a bit of row at the front door as neither of us could get the key to open the door and we had visions of sleeping on the streets, but eventually we worked it out.
