The almost indescribable knitted Olympics in Howard Road, Walthamstow. Eccentric Englishness at its best.
Funnily enough I was just reading about this yesterday or the day before and thinking it would be worth taking a look. Then Dave and I decided to wander the back streets of Walthamstow on our way back from the farmers' market and lo and behold we spotted a garden bedecked in flags of the world and came right across them. Absolutely gobsmacking - Team GB in front, a Finn and some Kenyans at the back. This is just a smidgen of what the lady's done, there's volleyball, a swimming pool, hurdling - apparently she knits her own version of any major events. This afternoon, rushed off to Camden Town to catch Must Come Down, a jolly choreographed morris dance show, featuring lots of fit, young people capering about, storytelling, good music and big animal heads. Great stuff.
