Stepdancer

Drove up to Suffolk this morning for the annual Traditional Music Day at the Museum of East Anglian Life. Always a busy day with lots to see and not enough time to do it all, including lots of stepdancing.

Arrived early enough to pick up keys from the hotel then to the museum for a cup of tea and some toast. Spent the morning playing in the session in the barn. Then popped into the ceilidh where I played a couple of tunes with the scratch band and danced a dance. Caught most of the set by Bartram, Brookes and Weatherall - great trad tunes and songs. Then hung around in the tea garden, played a few tunes, had a bit of a chat, then dinner.

Ended with the evening concert featuring some of the day's guests: Annie Dearman and Steve Harrison, Pat Ryan, Reg Hall and his London Irish guests, Margaret and Andrew Watchorn and more Bartram, Brookes and Weatherall. Struggled to stay awake as always after a full-on day but standing at the back helped. I won the raffle but it was the most ghastly teapot in the shape of a garish antiques shop - so I put it back in for next year's raffle. Couldn't possibly have brought it back home after all our decluttering.

Looks like fun. That teapot has probably been in the raffle for years. EVERY event in our village has a raffle and some of the prizes appear year in year out
