At the Hieroglyphs: Unlocking Ancient Egypt exhibition at the British Museum. These jars preserved the organs of the deceased, in this case someone called Ahmose. Imset, the human-headed god preserved the liver; baboon-headed Hapi preserved the lungs; falcon-headed Qebehsenuef looked after the intestines; and jackal-headed Duamutef protected the stomach.
Variously held in the Musée Calvert, Avignon, the Louvre and the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Liverpool, this is the first time these jars have been reunited since the mid-1700s.
