Saloon bar by boxplayer

Saloon bar

The alley down the side of the Lamb and Flag in Covent Garden. Near here, the poet John Dryden was attacked and nearly killed by hired thugs. Apparently the pub used to be called the Bucket of Blood because of the bare-knuckle fights that were its speciality ...

It still looks a place you wouldn't go down at night. I wonder what Dryden had done to be targeted by hitmen!
