Crocuses in memory

At the police memorial at the top of Horseguards Parade are some formal wreaths laid for PCs Bone and Hughes - very moving. But someone had also picked just a few of the white and purple wild autumn crocuses and scattered them randomly on the ledge above. The white and purple together with the green stems made me think of the colours that the women's suffrage movement adopted in 1908: purple symbolised dignity, white purity, and green hope.
