Another Tom Thorne thriller and a very good one, focusing on so-called 'honour'-based violence. Very painful reading though. Mark Billingham was shocked by the terrible true story of Banaz Mahmod, an Iraqi Kurd woman who was forced into marriage, her father and uncle arranged for her to be killed when she had the nerve to fall in love with someone else.
Even more sadly, the guy she fell in love with never got over her murder and even though the perpetrators were all brought to justice, he committed suicide half way through this book being written.
