New Year with your favourite children's literary characters
Clockwise from top left: the boy reporter Tintin, Cruella de Vil, Mary Poppins, Lee Scoresby meets the Queen of Narnia no 2, Captain Hook and Tinkerbell clash, Queen of Narnia no 1, Lee Scoresby and Mrs Coulter.
Tried to be good after all the nibbles yesterday and knowing more was to come by walking briskly to a local parks and boating lake, doubling back via Beeston centre. Met the others with Frances having coffee and mooched in a few charity shops.
Anna's pea and garlic soup for lunch followed a few last minute preps to my outfit and a lie down, then it was time to get dressed up - theme of children's books hence the characters in the collage.
Far too many nibbles as usual and a huge dinner of goose for the meat eaters and halibut for me and Dave. A silly game of Chinese Pictionary whiled away the time before midnight and we trooped out to wave sparklers and watch the city's sky come alive with fireworks.
I think Mary Poppins is the pic of the bunch , the boating lake is Highfields , set in the grounds of Nott'm Uni. My first little house in Nottingham , overlooked Highfields :)
