The first of our Painted Lady butterflies emerged from its chrysalis yesterday; Carly named it Hungry. The other four completed their transformations today. They're all hungry. A couple days of observation, then liberation.
Great shot Brad! The colors, the composition, the story, the title! Love this. I knew you would love 'growing' your birthday present!!! :) How symbolic to watch them mature and grow...and then set them free to live their own lives.
OH, that is so sweet and perfect. (Cake- Only one burn: He'll live. :) Grasshopper- I hadn't noticed that, but you're right, it does look like he's hanging on for dear life. Web- By the time it did make an appearance it was too late. Bugger got bombed since his home was so close to the wasps nest. He was collateral damage as it were.)
They're all hungry Brad, be careful they don't eat your hands off. (:
Glad your birthday gifts hatched. My daughter's all hatched fine except one that had a bit of a deformed wing. It still seemed to fly okay, though.
How cool is that?! I had my fingers crossed that your birthday present would complete the cycle, and what a gift this turned out to be! I've always loved the beauty of a butterfly, but thanks to Karen and 365, it's gone to a whole new level. What a community...you're right!
Whoa --- this photo is pretty fabulous. I am adding it to my "Favorites". I didn't know you grew butterflies. Now thanks to 365 I know 2 people who grow butterflies -- another great benefit obtained from this project.
Hungry is a fitting name :)
