A final scramble to the top and the gorgeous views were so worth the effort.

For those LOTR fans the mountain in the background - Mt Ngarauhoe featured as Mt Doom in the film series!!

@dide Tama lakes is underrated and often people only do the Tongariro Crossing. I almost prefer this Tama Lakes hike ... only a few people on the tracks compared to the crossing that has 100's every day.
