Congratulations to our grandson. Michael had his first solo flight yesterday. unfortunately, due to so many time changes in his flight scheduling on account of the wind factor, we were unable to be there for him. they got the go ahead yesterday morning and had to be at an airport in Lindsay, Ontario early in the morning. after a few rounds of flying in the presence of his instructor and then another few with the head guy, Michael took off for the blue yonder around 7.30 am. the instructor mentioned to Michael's parents that their son was quite calm about his first solo flight and that he seems to have an inborn sense of navigation.
This is wonderful--both the collage and the achievement. It always seems miraculous when a youngster follows a dream that is entirely his, not just following in the footsteps of a parent.
@bruni This is for you and Michael then. He sounds like a wonderful young man. You are lucky to have him for your grandson and he is lucky to have you for his grandmother. I always love your collages and this one is extra special. You are very welcome, Bruni.
Great collage, Bruni and congrats to him for completing his solo! Wow! So now you get to be flown anywhere in a private plane? Now you have NO excuses to come down this way! Bwahahaha!!! In truth, I would love it if you could come visit. We have an airport across the river for him to land. I bet you are so proud of him.... Sorry about my absence. I know you were worried... I honestly didn't go anywhere since my last shot except to the wizard but wasn't up for taking photos. My visitor this past Wednesday got me back out and about so you can thank "Jiminy" ... oh wait... he was a cricket... same family.
@prttblues Hi Bev. thank you for your lovely comment. I don't know if I will be around when he finally after many more flight lessons gets his pilot licence.. I'm afraid it is a little more involved than taking some lessons. his solo flight consisted of starting the plane, take off, flingy around in a small circle and then land the plane. to actually fly a distance he needs to learn a lot more like chartering a course and much, much more. I'll send you an airmail link and if you're interested and want to skip over it to see what is involved, please do. I just keep on dreaming that one day I will have the pleasure of accompanying him on a flight.
