Tucked amongst the forest in the north end of Keswick, Ontario in the township of Georgina is a little red schoolhouse that “may be small but mighty in spirit and heart”.
On May 11 2013 it celebrated a Centennial Birthday. It’s now over 100 years old. The first school on the site of the present Deer Park Public
School was built in 1882 and was called Lakeview School. It was a frame building that was heated by a wood stove. Deer Park Public School, with it’s distinctive Capula was built in 1913 and is one of the oldest surviving schools in Georgina. Now once the community grew over the years so did this school, but it kept it's old charm.
I took this picture on my last outing March 24th.
@snowy Unfortunately, yes and we're so tired of it. I see all the lovely flowers on here and wonder if Spring will ever come. this was the coldest winter I can remember where one just didn't feel like going outdoors. thank you for your lovely comment, Diana.
