One more time. by bruni

One more time.

The old robin nest is once more occupied. I'm wondering if it's always by the same parents. if so, they have another two squabs to take care of and from the looks of it, they're doing a good job. the youngsters are almost ready to leave the nest.
A beautiful capture:-)

I guess they know it's time to go when there is no more room. Good thing there weren't more than two.

@digitalrnI thought the same thing. now our sparrows always go into the birdhouse just to sit in it and stick there head out, but I guess it became a habit. so I thought the same with the mourning dove. well I was wrong, she hat another set of two. Hans said I better take a picture today bc they look almost ready to leave the nest. wouldn't be surprised if they're gone overnight.

What a great shot, Bruni. You are lucky that they have had babies, unlike those in our nest that left before they laid eggs. Love this young one you captured so well. Beautiful feathers on it. FAV

Great shot, Bruni! It's too funny that Mourning Doves have recycled the Robin's nest!! Great capture of the family! Fav :)

@prttblues I read that when I googled to find out what their babies were called. it said that they love to take over an empty Robin`s nest. do you remember the picture I posted previously?

@bruni omgoodness! I just realized there are 3 in the nest! How cool!!!

@prttblues Bev, Hans says the female is plain looking and he thinks he saw dark spots on the male's wings. and btw the female only lays two white eggs each time. the nest look crowded. I've seen the parents switch places. both take their turn tending the young ones.

@bruni I found out the difference. It's nothing to do with the black spots. Males have a bluish crown and nape, and a rose wash to the throat and breast. The crown and nape of the female is grayish brown, and the throat and breast has a brownish or tan wash. You can see some pics here: http://www.wbu.com/chipperwoods/photos/mdove.htm
