Rubery Hill Hospital Chapel by bulldog

Rubery Hill Hospital Chapel

Or as it was know "Worcester County Lunatic Asylum Chapel".

This chapel now stands at the centre of a new housing and industrial estate and although it is derelict and was destroyed by fire in 2000 it was re-roofed, but still stands empty.

A little more research has shown...
This stunning red brick building as a Grade 2 listed chapel was formerly part of the Rubery Hill psychiatric hospital, opened in 1882 and closed in 1994.
The Psychiatric patients were moved out to Staffordshire in 1915 and the hospital became a War Hospital between until 1919, treating casualties from the First World War.
Only three buildings remain from the hospital – the porters lodge (off the slip road onto the A38 from Cock Hill Lane), the superintendent’s house (On Great Park, used as offices for the charity Headway) and the chapel.
