The David Hockney exhibition

We went to the David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy in London yesterday. I wasn't really supposed to take this picture and was reminded immediately that no photography was allowed! However, I'm not planning to copy his work or make a profit from it. His use of colour and perspective is is amazing. Some of his work is so simple and almost childlike, but the effect is stunning. It's well worth a visit if you get the chance. We also went to see War Horse - the play - in the evening but sadly I wasn't allowed to take photos there either. We were sat in the front row with the stage almost on our knees and at eye level - a very interesting perspective indeed. It was a fantastic show and the life-size horses moved and sounded like the real thing.
Thank you all for your comments recently - I appreciate them all, and especially your interest in my husband's wood-turning.
Love this illicit shot! Nice contrast of modern and traditional. Isn't War Horse AMAZING? I took my 13 year old daughter as I had read the book to her and we were in the front row too - incredilble - so moving.

Great shot!
And I'd love to see War Horse before too long - though perhaps I should read the book first! I'm reading 'Shadow' another Michael Morpurgo book to my class just now and even though it is quite sad and challenging in bits they are really moved by it, and have produced fantastic writing themselves!

I'd love to see this exhibition, I like a lot of his work especially his landscape paintings. Great sneaky picture!
