The shinkansen, formerly known as the bullet train travels at 186 mph, and reached a huge speed before it even left the station. The trains were kept spotlessly clean and all the seats faced forwards. At the end of each journey all the seats were swivelled round making for a very comfortable journey with the increased leg room.
