I'm not sure what these flowers are called perhaps someone knows and could let me know? We visited the garden this afternoon as part of a tour with the Quilter's Guild. Lucy Boston is famous for writing the children's stories about the Children of Green Knowe. She hand-made 23 patchwork quilts in her lifetime starting in her 40's and made her last one aged 92! We were given a fascinating tour of the house - and of course saw most of the quilts - by her daughter-in-law, Diana Boston.
No expert but they could be from the cosmos family or even the anemone family of flowers !! but whatever they are a beautiful rich colour-- love the story too !
Lovely flowers and Nigel's mum bought all the Green Knowe books for the kids. A friend of mine knows Diana Boston well and raves about the house and her tours but I just can't remember which friend! Didn't know Lucy Boston quilted...
@beryl@rosiekind@happypat Thanks for all your tries at helping me to identify these flowers. I should have asked while I was there. Diana Boston was such an inspiration and loves her garden.
@judithg Well worth doing the tour - even if you get the gardener! Diana is passionate about her garden and has so many fascinating stories to tell about the house.
