This is where it all happens. The onions, courgettes and tomatoes for the chutney were all grown here. Only the apples came from a tree at home. I was surprised at the level of interest in my chutney making - thanks for all your comments. I read and enjoyed them all. Peter is just visible in the background rotavating a patch of ground for me, and I've been busy today planting shallots and onions. The crop in the foreground is chard - or spinach - I'm not sure - it just grew! In the background you can see broccoli and cabbage, under the blue hoops.
A joint effort I see, lovely to see this place of industry ...a big space & plenty of cabbage left. We are just about on our last one tonight...there is a small one hiding but it might have to have peas added to bulk it out.
A sort of Indian totem pole too????.
No not a totem pole but a chain saw carved scarecrow! It won third prize in the scarecrow competition two years ago and has been there ever since. It was funny at the time as our dog Betty growled at it for ages trying to get it to go away - she thought it was an intruder!
I am very impressed by the allotment it looks so neat and tidy - I can see how much work has gone into it!! It must be good to grow your own veges - they must taste wonderful!!
@newjob1 Well it's not really a garden and no it's not mine. An allotment is a piece of ground rented to members of the public for the purpose of growing vegetables and/or flowers. I pay a yearly fee. My garden at home isn't big enough to grow vegetables so I rent this rather large piece of land next to the river. It can be very relaxing, listening to the birds, having a cuppa while enjoying the outdoors, but it's also hard work.
is that your shed too judith?...i did a photo of the contents of my shed in my first year on 365....worth a shot i think in your 365 :) .....nice to see Peter hard at work !
