Wisbech is in the Cambridgeshire fens so is quite isolated in many ways. However we were pleasantly surprised to see this smart row of Georgian houses gracing the main street. It's reputed to be one of the best rows of Georgian houses in the country. Peckover House where we visited yesterday is the third house from the right, with the greenery along the front. The River Nene flows in front and is tidal. When we arrived it was very low but later in the afternoon the tide was rushing in. You may be able to see the mud line half way up the grassy bank so it gets quite high. There is a flood defence wall extending a long way inland.
Lovely row of gracious houses quite unexpected in that part of the world....you have no idea the surprises new places bring us! Thank you for the tour of this area!
