We are spending a night on Holy Island, also known as Lindisfarne. It is such a beautiful spot and we've never spent a night here before. The island is accessible by car over a causeway at low tide. We walked over to St Cuthbert's Island before the tide came in and walked up to the castle which sadly was closed. Later the weather changed and the skies looked threatening.
A beautiful capture, especially with the bird. There's something so special about being on Holy Island when the tide comes in and the day tourists have gone.
@maggiemae Oh yes, there's hotels here and many people live here year round. We went for a pub meal tonight and there were two musicians, a fiddle player and a guitar player, they were made our stay here even more magical. They had just turned up this afternoon and asked if they could play!
@nanm Yes, the Lindisfarne gospels. They were written here around 700 AD and are now kept in London They make a lovely Lindisfarne mead here and many other products such as fudge and pickles.
