We have come to the end of our stay on the North East Coast. We have been so lucky with the weather and this morning as we left we were not disappointed. This view shows the marker posts marking the Pilgrim's Crossing across the sands. It is possible to cross to the Island at low tide although according to the website it is not advised unless you cross with someone with local knowledge. The metalled causeway is completely covered at high tide and there is a refuge point in case you get caught out. About one car gets stranded every month! We were treated to a couple of excellent musicians in the local pub/restaurant last night playing fiddle and guitar and singing folk songs.
Great capture Judith. We were told last time we crossed that in the past the markers had platforms near the top so that any walkers would be able to stay safe! Don't know how true it is but I found it interesting.
Great shot of an interesting place. There's an unusual film by Roman Polanski that was shot here in the late 60's called "Cul-de-Sac". Very off-the-wall but a worth a look if you want to see something a bit different! fav
