We visited this monastery in Gyangtse, rural Tibet, and paid our £2 fee for permission to take photographs inside. It was most interesting as the monks were banging drums, cymbals and bells, chanting, praying and reading from the scriptures. Breakfast followed! The monastery was builtin the 14th century and housed many huge Buddhas and scriptures in boxes. 70 monks now reside here. Many local people were making offerings of money and adding melted butter to the burning candles.
Such a gorgeous and opulent scene -- love the vibrant and rich colours , and the music must have been amazing --£2 well spent , thank you for sharing ! fav
Look forward to hearing all about this holiday when you return to UK
