Saffron Walden ...... by busylady

Saffron Walden ......

..... as depicted in fabric! This was a banner hanging in the beautiful church of St Mary the Virgin. Such a historic town (lots more pictures to come!) The town is named after the Saffron flower (crocus sativus) which was extensively cultivated in this area until the end of the 18th century.
We met up with friends today for coffee, a walk around the town and a lovely lunch in the Old English Gentleman pub. Very recommendable.
How very lovely this is.
