Loughborough Carillon by carole_sandford

Loughborough Carillon

Had to visit my brother today who lives just outside our home town of Loughborough. Had a chilly walk around Queens Park, which is always a pleasure to see & brings back lots of memories of my childhood. The standout feature of the park is this carillon. It was built as a war memorial to the fallen men of the town, from WW1. It houses 35 bells ( all cast at the local & still operating, Taylor’s Bell Foundry) & recitals take place fairly often . You can climb the tower to the green balcony & it affords quite a good view of the surrounding areas.
Fascinating building.

How fabulous! Not sure I’d survive the climb up, must be quite a few stairs 😂 but worth the view I imagine.

Eee I love a carillon! Hardly ever see (or hear) them these days. I remember a super one in Berlin not far from the Reichstag.
