The Bird by cdonohoue

The Bird

I'm sorry I'm behind in my commenting. I was out shopping today for Baby Bear which is this Friday after it finally quit raining and spending time with the camera. We just put this bird bath out last week. Our old one was chipping all over and the birds really didn't seem to like it. This one was a very busy spot this afternoon. But every time I opened the door bath time was suddenly over. I even sat out on the back stoop, where I sat so many mornings with my Dad while he drank his coffee and watched the birds well over half a century ago. Finally, at dinner time, I spotted another taking a bath. I took this through the screen door to avoid opening it and the length of the back yard. So, I'd hoped for better but after all that am posting it anyway. You can actually see the bird if you view it large.
A bird feels so vulnerable having a bath, I have learnt, that they are quick to fly away with any movement. Once they get used to it and provided there are no cats around, they will be lined up!

A sweet garden.. Great place for a bird to bath. Love those bottles, do they have a light set up to shine on them? That would be a great shot.

That looks like a beautiful garden, Cathy. Very colourful and the bird capture is great. I was wondering what those bottle-like decorations were there for.

@maggiemae I hope so because I would really like to get better at capturing the birds.
@sugarmuser No light - just the sun and they look different all day long depending on the angle.
@nikkic Thank you Nikki
@grammyn Thank you Katy. We just planted it last year and it came back strong.
@marlboromaam Thanks Maggie. I saw it on Pinterest and found the tree at an antique mall.
@susanrm Thank you Susan.
@jannkc Thanks Jann. Came from Kroger if you can believe it.
@yonnie Thank you Yvonne.
@aurorajane Thanks. Love the 5star surrounds.
@girlie I do not know what it is.....
@gerry Thank you Gerry.
@sangwann Dione - that is a wire bottle tree - about as tall as I am with spokes for the flowers. I have been collecting wine bottles, a few are vases and colorful bottles from craft stores to fill the spokes - I have a long way to go. It catches the light so nicely and it gives me something to look at back there in the winter. I find our little garden brings me great peace.
