The Turf Club
My best friend gave me a gift certificate almost a month ago for the Turf Club that she wasn't going to be able to use. It turned out to be a much larger gift than the $50 we had towards our $65 dollar, including tip, bill. This is not an amount that we would spend going out to dinner. We could, we just don't spend money that way. I can't tell you how much I needed it. I timed my pain pill just right and had a gin and tonic while we were sitting there.
The Club is known for it's collection of neon signs. It is endlessly entertaining. We went early afternoon as it is incredibly crowded later in the day. They are noted as having the best burgers in Cincinnati and they do not disappoint. Tom and I both needed a day that wasn't focused around all that he felt that he needed to accomplish and I could forget about my back and the countdown that I am keeping to the neurosurgeon visit next Wednesday. I totally went off the low carb/no sugar diet. I did forgo the bun - it is too large of a burger to eat that way to begin with, and I had deep fried onion rings (major no no)!! Since there was no crowd we took our time and just sat and talked and enjoyed the neon. We really need to find ways to be us until I am fixed and lift the load for my incredible caretaker.
This looks like it is a very entertaining place! So much to see here that it would keep you occupied for quite some time. How generous of your friend to gift you the day. I’m really glad you were able to take your mind off your pain and enjoy the moment. I’m also glad Tom was able to relax and not focus on his to do list.
