Sanctuary of Norwood Presbyterian Church

This is the sanctuary of our church that is for sale. We had a local Celtic Band come to play for us after worship today. They have been doing this in the Spring for about 10 -12 years. They were having a rough time knowing that they aren't sure where we will be this time next year. Take a look at these gorgeous columns. I couldn't get the vaulted wood ceiling, even with the wide angle from the balcony. I had a man offer me a $4000 the other day just for the light fixtures that you see hanging. I wish I could really show the scope and beauty of God's living room - but it will always be in my heart. I was baptized from the font up front, married here and employed here. I used to walk over from my office and sit and pray. Now, as a ruling Elder, I am on the committee that is in charge of selling the building and finding new space. We have to do this. There is no choice. But it hurts my heart. As I said, this place will always live in my heart - and a piece of my heart will always be in this very room.
A truly wonderful shot. It will certainly live in your memory.

It's truly a heartbreaking story... and it's important for you to be working through it in this way. Looking from afar it's unbelievable that such a gorgeous building with such a long history and thriving congregation would have to be sold.

Bless you, Cathy, hate to hear the story, and suspect it is being repeated in different places across the country. All things work for the good for those who love the Lord, but sometimes it is hard to see just how. The hymn "When I walk the Last Mile of the Way" comes to my mind.

It's a lovely and welcoming space. Hopefully, a buyer can be found who will respect its history, tradition, and the many lives that were touched there.

Such a lovely, warm sanctuary... wish it were filled with God's people, for that is where He resides, in the hearts of His children. Without His people it is just a beautiful building. Your comments reminded me of a song my sister-in-law, a minister of music, used to sing a song called 'In this Very Room' by Ron Harris. Praying God's best for you and your congregation, Cathy.

What a beautiful building and such a shame. I pray God will give you and the congregation peace and bring you to a new place that's just right for you. What a blessing that you can still capture pictures of it and cherish your memories.

Beautiful shot, but such a wonderful memory it will make for you to share with others. I hope that your congregation will find a place that will provide the warmth, love and safety that this church has provided.
