This morning, I visited the Weiner Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA) in Dania Beach, Florida. One of the guests that they had there today was the master potter, Alex Meiklejohn. He was very willing to chat, and agreed to my taking his photo while he worked. Alex is well known for his miniatures which are hand thrown and hand molded using many different clays and glazes. All of his miniatures are on a scale of 1 inch = 1 foot, the standard scale for doll houses. Alex was first inspired to work with clay when his mother began taking pottery classes as a hobby. He was throwing pots on a wheel while in junior high school. He later studied ceramics at the Rochester Institute of Technology for American Craftsmen. Thirty years ago, he switched to producing miniatures. His miniature pieces are sought after by collectors for display in shadow boxes and dollhouses. I didn't have my camera with me, so this is only the second cellphone photo I have posted to 365.
Hi! We are get pushed partners for the coming week. Your challenge is to take a photograph using Dutch Tilt (or Dutch Angle). If you'd prefer a different challenge, just let me know and I'll set another. Hope you can have fun with some slightly off-kilter photography.
@aecasey HI, April. I am glad to be your Get Pushed partner this week. I'm looking forward to trying your challenge. "Dutch Tilt" is new to me. It will be different because I am usually so aware of aiming for a straight horizon, but I welcome the challenge of something new. For your challenge, I see a lot of nice natural photos of animals, flowers, and people in your albums. How about trying an abstract this week?
