Walnut Grove by chikadnz

Walnut Grove

According to a nearby plaque, the Hammond Lauder Walnut Grove consisted of 100 trees planted in the late 1890s and maintained by the Hammond Family until 1973. Between 1948-1973, every second row was cut out to avoid overcrowding.

It is now part of Waipuna Park in the Welcome Bay suburb of Tauranga.

We were parked here for two nights and enjoyed a wander among the trees.

Sounds like a lovely place for a wander. When I hear Walnut Grove, I always think of that 70s TV programme, The Waltons!
