While in the Welcome Bay area of Tauranga, we drove up to visit Kaiate Falls, where we have a couple of geocaches that needed checking. Unfortunately the track to the falls was closed, possibly because of damage from the recent heavy rain.
This is the calm water before some small rapids; the main waterfall is much further downstream. You can see by the vegetation on the right hand bank that the water had been very high here; in fact there was debris on the one lane bridge from which I took this photo.
