Today we headed to Ashburton from Christchurch, in time to see our two granddaughters for their birthdays over Easter weekend.
Today was granddaughter #1's 5th birthday so after we got the motorhome set up in the NZMCA park at Ashburton, we called in to drop off her present. Her official party is being held tomorrow morning.
In June last year, her younger sister (granddaughter #2) at 2yrs old was diagnosed with leukaemia and is currently undergoing treatment, so the family are regulars at the children's oncology ward at Christchurch Hospital. Unfortunately GD #2 has been unwell this week, and needed to be admitted for a day or two to get checked out and have antibiotics. She and her Dad (our son-in-law) were due to return home today but needed the carseat, so we made an unplanned trip back to Christchurch to deliver it, on what turned out to be a wet evening!
I took this photo with my phone while I was waiting with GD#2 at the hospital entrance, for her Dad and @nzkites to return with the cars to collect us. She did not want me to take her photo!
