A few years back, would have never thought VCRs and VHSs would hit the dust. Now we have DVDs and Blu-Rays, but who knows, it probably won't be long before those are old-school too.
Cool composition.
The format wars go on and on. Probably the first format war was slate vs papyrus or paper. Then there was that of print vs. caligraphy. The longest format war in recent times was the history of different film processing methods. Since then we have had a major format war in the media about every five to ten years including 45 vs. 78 records; singles vs. LPs; fax vs teletype; colour vs. B&W television; betamax vs. VHS; transistor vs. valve... Recently we have gone through digital vs. film. Currently we have a quiet revolution over IPV4 vs IPV6, the Internet communications protocol. We are about to see a revolutionary format war with hard drives vs. Solid state memory... History is replete with examples. See? It will go on forever... And long may it do so... It is at the root of innovation and progress!
