Not sure what these flowers are called but every time I see them my eyes think they're fake. Like some little kid constructed them out of paper or plastic and put them into the ground. But they're actually real, who knew?

@shutterbugger -- I was thinking the same thing! He lives in a climate where things can grow beautifully. Where I live, there are a lot of French Canadians. Many of them plant fake flowers in pots and window boxes. Sometimes even in the ground. It cracks me up! Although, I have to say, they don't have to water or deadhead them. And they last a long time. If they don't let them get faded or out of season, it is a nice splash of color that may not be there otherwise! But I prefer the real thing. Even if they don't last too long with our short growing season.

@mainebrighteyes - haha thanks Laura!! I don't quite understand it either but guess some people just don't like watering and effort that goes into taking care of them. But they fade so easily in California weather!
