Woke up today and was surprise to see an orange/pinkish glow coming through the window. Went outside and saw that the entire southern part of the sky was blanketed in a smoky overcast, which gave the sunrise this unique color. It looked weird, beautiful, and amazing! However, it wasn't until later that I found out that the smoke was coming from a wildfire around the Los Angeles National Park. Sadly, it has burned 1,700 acres, two homes have been destroyed, and there are three suspects for starting it. Last I heard, it's 30% contained and the firefight is going to continue overnight. Really hope they can safely put it out. Crazy how a wildfire so many miles away can effect the entire area. Now the air is all smokey and ashy :/
We had that awful air last week from a National Park fire. It's just awful to think that most of them are deliberately started. This, however is totally awesome. I love the bird. fav
@swilde - Thanks very much for the fav Sue! Glad you liked the shot! From what I read this one was allegedly started by these guys tossing pieces of paper into a campfire when a breeze kicked up and nearby brush caught fire. It's still recklessly starting a fire.
@megmills - Thank you Meg, I appreciate the fav too! The fire is little over 30 miles from where I live. So not too far away but still a good distance from us.
@lynnb - Thank you Lynn! I appreciate your kind comments and the fav! I was thinking the same thing you were. The sky was so gorgeous but the fire sure wasn't.
