Since I was only able to get a quick shot today, I decided that my macro shot would be a close-up of lunch :)
The term pepperoni is a corruption of peperoni, the Italian word for bell peppers. How that fits salami cut into circles is beyond me. Prior to 1940, the usual toppings for pizza were cheese, tomatoes, and anchovies. In fact in many places, anchovies were a really popular topping! Not really my cup of Joe though. I couldn't find any information on what or who popularized pepperoni in America's pizzerias but it sure was a yummy idea :)
