Today my goal was to get up-close and personal with a faucet. Our bathroom doesn't get natural light, so freezing the water with a fast shutter speed was next to impossible. Therefore I used
flash, which I hadn't used in months (I'm normally a natural light kind of guy)! Because I had to get so close with the macro adaptor, though, my on-camera flash was casting some nasty shadows on my subject. Therefore, I pulled out my external off-camera flash, placed it not too far from the sink, and set it to slave mode. That way, when my on-camera flash went off, the external one did too. It froze the motion and gave me that bubble wrap look I was going for. Makes me wanna grab it and pop all the bubbles like real bubble wrap! :)
Chris, this is incredible. Before reading your detail, I couldn't work out what this was! I love a photo that fights with my imagination and wins! Such a lot of creativity and hard work behind this one - a definite fav from me :) Well done! Hope you are now resting - getting this one would have made me crazy with frustration!!
@gigiflower - Thanks so much for the encouraging comment and for the fav Sam! Guess since I know exactly what it is, I didn't really pay attention to the fact that it could be a bit abstract. Shots that take a bunch of work feel even better when you get a good capture.
