(Day 132) - Prickly Pears

But they look like strawberries. Why aren't they called spiky strawberries? :P

Anyhoo, I haven't eaten any of these since I was a kid. To me, they taste like watermelon but just a little less sweet. Just make sure you take off the needles! Otherwise, you may end up experiencing a very sharp taste. :D
Fantastic image with perfect DoF.

Wow, I don't think I have ever tried them, we don't even get them over here... or at least I have never seen them. Funny how 3 of them are red and that one, which is the biggest hasn't... I am thinking it must have grown first to have gotten so big. plus judging by your picture they all seem to have access to the same amount of sunlight etc... Very puzzling, nice capture though.

@stephanies - I was thinking the same thing about that green one. I did a bit of digging and found out that their color does not indicate maturity. They can be lime green, yellow, orange, pink, or red. Red seems to be the most common so maybe it's the dominate trait. Imagine seeing a cactus with each of those colors though!
