Today, CJ wanted to take a closer photo of the rose-shaped fountain in the Concert Hall's Garden. This is actually the first time I noticed the inscribed tribute on the side. The fountain is named "A Rose for Lily."
It was designed by Frank Gehry, the same architect who designed the curvy Concert Hall, as a tribute to Lillian Disney and her love for Royal Delft porcelain vases & roses. Yes, the entire fountain is covered in thousands of broken pieces of porcelain to create a beautiful mosaic. ๐น๐
Nice! I like the fact that you included the inscription.
The broken-porcelain mosaic is traditional where I live, my granny used to live in a house where the bottom part of the walls where covered in it, and it's still frequently used in public buildings. It's curious to see it in such a far place.
@monicac - Thank you Monica and thanks for sharing that with me. It's so wonderful that this is a tradition where you live!! It's a beautiful style and your granny's house & buildings in this style must look so beautiful!
@grammyn - Thanks Katy!! While I like showing things from CJ perspective, it's also fun to see the scale of subjects against him.
When photographing CJ, I used to have the problem for him to be in focus and the subject to be blurred in the shallow depth of field. I'm fine with that most of the time because it emphasizes little CJ.
But when it comes to these city shots, sometimes I want him AND the subject to be a bit more in focus. To solve the problem, I started using my wide angle lens, which I never thought to use with CJ. Always thought he would look way too small. In actuality, it works perfectly for getting him and the details of the subject when that is my intention. :)
