CJ's photo today is of a retired shuttle named Endeavour. On it's 19-year career, Endeavour completed 25 successful missions, some of which were to repair and deliver parts to the International Space Station.
It also carried the first African-American female astronaut, the first Japanese astronaut as well as the first married couple to fly on the same space mission.
CJ thought it was cute that it's also the first and only shuttle to be named by children. NASA staged a competition allowing elementary students to select the name.
As we can see, Endeavor has a large heritage and even more can be learned here at the California Science Center. The shuttle is also large itself. I'm happy CJ was able to find an interesting spot to take a wide photo from. That wasn't easy, but both CJ and I will always "endeavor" to get a fun photograph. 🚀😁
@olivetreeann - That's so cool!! I can't recall watching any before but it was cool to see them flying it on top of an airplane in the sky to parade it across Los Angeles before it was sent to the museum.
@mcsiegle - Thank you so much Mary! It's been so much fun. Many of these are my first time too. hahaha And nope they didn't carry his size. I would have loved to get him a NASA shirt! ;)
@jb030958 - Haha, thanks for browsing through my photos. We had a blast visiting all these different places in LA, so much to learn. Glad you enjoyed the tour too!
