(Day 262) - Faux Fall by cjphoto

(Day 262) - Faux Fall

Living in Los Angeles, we don't get the spectacular display of Fall colors. Instead, we get either dead leaves or green all the time (although green is my favorite color..but that's besides the point, haha).

Interestingly, this little tree decided to sport a few red leaves. It's nice to have a small reminder of autumn in LA. 🍁

Nice clean leaves. Ours are still covered in ashes from the wildfires.

I live only a few hours north so not a lot in the way of dramatic fall imagery here, either. However there is quite a lot of color once we start looking. Great image, I really like how you've composed this!

I love shiny waxy looking leaves. Nice!

Nice colors change, yup, feeling the same here in South Florida.

Lovely contrasting colours. We have the same issue in Western Australia.

Beautiful red standing out against the green!

Maybe this plant is like poinsettias where the top leaves are coloured and become what we see as the “flowers” of the plants?

I hate to burst your bubble but the red comes not from dying leaves but emerging ones. It is new growth color but we can still pretend it is autumn color! It is a colorful detailed image.

Hey, I am in Northern CA and at my home I am still waiting for the color change, this crazy year. Trees are still full of green leaves! Usually, I can gather colorful leaves and pour them all over our front porch for Halloween...not this year! The red maples are still green...waiting for the end of November when it might happen!

Lovely composition and colours. Autumn is wonderful but then it is drab and gloomy. Unless it's snowing.

@gapandgain - Thank you!! I hope you all are okay and safe and coping with the fires okay.

@gardencat - That's what I was thinking at first but as Katy said it seems the color is going to turn green with time. So fascinating though.

@grammyn - Oooooh, that makes a lot fo sense. I've never knew that. I guess my title "Faux Fall" fits perfectly then. Haha. Thanks for the insight, Katy!

@julie - Thanks! Me too! Shiny, waxy leaves always look so clean and beautiful.

@gardenfolk - 2020 has been a rough year, even the trees are confused. Haha. Hopefully you'll get those wonderful autumn colors this month. I really need to visit N. California during the color change one day.

@cjphoto ...especially the Lake Tahoe area...gorgeous! Although this year, the color change is a month+ late there as well.

Some plants actually get new leaves in red. Maybe this does. Doesn’t matter though pretty no matter when.
