Living in Los Angeles, we don't get the spectacular display of Fall colors. Instead, we get either dead leaves or green all the time (although green is my favorite color..but that's besides the point, haha).
Interestingly, this little tree decided to sport a few red leaves. It's nice to have a small reminder of autumn in LA. 🍁
I live only a few hours north so not a lot in the way of dramatic fall imagery here, either. However there is quite a lot of color once we start looking. Great image, I really like how you've composed this!
I hate to burst your bubble but the red comes not from dying leaves but emerging ones. It is new growth color but we can still pretend it is autumn color! It is a colorful detailed image.
Hey, I am in Northern CA and at my home I am still waiting for the color change, this crazy year. Trees are still full of green leaves! Usually, I can gather colorful leaves and pour them all over our front porch for Halloween...not this year! The red maples are still green...waiting for the end of November when it might happen!
@gardencat - That's what I was thinking at first but as Katy said it seems the color is going to turn green with time. So fascinating though.
@grammyn - Oooooh, that makes a lot fo sense. I've never knew that. I guess my title "Faux Fall" fits perfectly then. Haha. Thanks for the insight, Katy!
@gardenfolk - 2020 has been a rough year, even the trees are confused. Haha. Hopefully you'll get those wonderful autumn colors this month. I really need to visit N. California during the color change one day.
