The weather was much better today. The storms missed us yesterday, but there was a tornado touch down in a nearby county. There was property damage. Thankfully, there were no personal injuries.
It was cold and breezy today, but the sun came out this afternoon. This is the first time in days, that we've seen the sun.
I think this female Eastern Towhee was feeling the cold. She has her feathers fluffed. I know how she feels! :0)
Thank you for your kind comments on yesterday's Mourning Dove!!! :0)
another fave Carolyn - I wonder if I go back through my faves, how many of them will be yours! This is exquisite - as usual. Who would have thought brown feathers could be so pretty.
Ok, so I have the same camera. Following you so I can learn exactly what it can do. I want to take pictures just like this. I think you may be using the lens I have also. I am very new to dslr.
Your pictures are all wonderful!
Another bird I didn't even know existed. Gorgeous! You are certainly giving me an avian education. What county? I grew up in Warren County. Are you anywhere near?
Excellent focus and composition. The Rufous Sided Towee (now been renamed) was the first bird I saw on a Christmas bird count I attended years ago that started my fascination with birds that were all around but that I had never noticed. Some folks say that the dinosaurs never went extinct they just evolved into birds through eons of time. Kind of cool to think of that possibility every time I see another beautiful example.
Beautiful picture of the female Towhee. I've only seen the males. She is very pretty with brown feathers. This budding tree is a great backdrop for your bird shots.
Amazing detail as always. It almost appears like that spot on the end of the branch has been used so often as a perch area that the bark has been worn away.
Love this! We have Rufous-Sided Towhees here in Kentucky. I usually here them more than see them. When I here the familar "Drink-Your-Teeeeeeea" in the woods, I know the towhee is close by.
Your pictures are all wonderful!
just my personal opinion, off-centered composition would be more interesting... :)
lovely bird x
