Tuffy by cjwhite

Tuffy

It was a beautiful day with sunshine and blue skies. I'm glad I was able to enjoy it. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and SNOW Sunday. Mother Nature is a big tease!

This little Tufted Titmouse had the feeder to itself, because it scared the other birds away. The birds are starting their spring courtships and are being more aggressive.

I read some interesting facts about their nesting habits. They nest in cavities they find, such as old woodpecker holes. Within the cavity, the nest is constructed of dry leaves, moss, or fragments of snakeskin, and lined with mammal hair.

Eeeewww! They aren't as cute to me now! LOL! The thought of snakeskin makes my skin crawl! :0)

To get the mammal hair, they are notorious for pulling hair from sleeping dogs, cats, and squirrels to line their nests! Now, I would really like to get a pic of that!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments on yesterday's Downy Woodpecker and Upside down bee!!! :0)
Great capture and feeder!

You always get such great dof. And snakeskins are quite soft so I could understand why they'd use them in their nests!

these are such pretty birds but I didn't know the part about them stealling hair - yikes! I have 2 poodles so when ever I cut their hair I throw it in the yard for the birds to use in their nests - I hope they take that as a peace offering!
