This is the twisted road that leads over Kirkstone Pass in the lakes. The scenery is fabulous and dramatic and very bleak especially in winter when snow closes the pass making it impossible to use. The road is no wider than a car and a bit so it's essential that good manners are observed and passing places are not used to park in!! The lakes have some of the most beautiful roads that are a nightmare when the season is in full swing, most of them are narrow and overhung with trees, we followed a lorry yesterday that sprayed us with foliage for miles, oh and that's another thing, there is not much overtaking done!!

Thank you for all your comments and favs all are really appreciated.
Beautiful scene! We stayed in Hawkshead a couple of years ago and had a car with a roofbox on top and bikes on the back and I worried we wouldn't get to the top of here :-) (obviously we did!!)
What a great road trip, although it sounds like it's rare for the conditions (either road conditions or traffic conditions) to be good. I love the line of the road up the pass.
Wow! Fabulous shot! This is all so very interesting to me! One of the things I enjoy most about 365 is learning so much about other countries...thank you for including such a wonderful description along with your terrific photo! :-)
Wow, I love that place. This Summer my son-in-law and daughter had planned to go to London so I booked to go somewhere else because London doesn't attract me. Now, because of what happened recently they are going to the Lake District. I would have gladly accepted to go with them if I knew.
