Down at the bottom of the garden under the Hawthorne tree we have a beautiful lace cap hydrangea. Last year I said how it struggled because of where it was but this year despite of everything it has managed to produce a few flower heads. It deserves better and this autumn I will see if we can move it, which is difficult as we have nowhere much left to plant anything! Our garden despite care, top soil and fertilizer is not a fertile haven, something to do with one of the previous owners stripping it of topsoil so they could get a paved area put down and everybody taking away barrow loads to other gardens( our neighbours told us this when we said nothing would grow!!). So what we have been trying to make better is sub-soil that has no real nutrients. The only plus side of this is we don't grow many weeds!!.
Today is warm and very wet, this week so far has been a total wash-out.
Pretty on black
Three good things about today;-
Despite the rain we went and got my storage cubes so I can at last sort some of my craft stash, I like to be organized.
I am starting to get around a bit better on my new bionic foot( it might as well be for the amount of screws I have in it!!.
After loosing weight my clothes are fitting better!
Thank you for all your continued support,comments and favs
Beautiful lace Cap Margaret, If you decide to move it, get a bag or 2 of John Innes Number 3, dig a hole and put it in, then take out and transfer your Lacecap, water well and it should do nicely...
This is a real beauty Margaret , such a delicate coloured flower ! I hope you will be successful if you decide to move it as it would be such a shame if you lost it !! Glad to hear that the bionic foot is behaving and you are getting around better ! these things do take time don't they !
Great shot of this pretty flower. Inspite of moving you can try to better the soil with peat, come clay and compost. You can also plant them for a year in a (big) pot. Ours are doing great in it for several years.
So glad to hear you're feeling better - patience is not most people's strong point :) Your hydrangea is just beautiful - sounds like you've gotten a few good suggestions to try. I'd sure go with the cutting first (that's what I've done with my lilac bush and it's now at 2 houses although not doing real well here) Love the color.
@tonygig
Thank you for your advice Tony, this is what we were going to do and hoping it will workout I also will do as Julia suggests and take a cutting too.

A cutting is a very good idea, I will see if we can get one to take root, thanks for the advice.
Thank you so much for your advice, I might try growing a cutting on in a tub. It might do better than the ground.
