this large Golden Ash tree has the mark of doom on it. A lot of work is being done around our creek to restore it to a natural environment. This means getting rid of exotic trees and weeds and replanting with natives. As they new trees start to grow it is looking lovely
Well that does seem awfully sad doesn't it? I often wonder about the whole idea of "native". Surely change and evolution is natural in the environment over time. Anyway, it's lovely that your community is taking an interest :). Interesting subject!
I really don't think any tree should be taken down just because it's not native! But I understand the concept of returning this area back to its former state. I'd much rather see them take out the saplings than a full grown tree, but that's progress- or maybe regress in the case!
thanks everyone for your interesting comments
